My heart is filled with sadness

As many of you know there was a mass shooting on Ft Hood, TX this afternoon. As some of you know our son is stationed at Ft Hood. We have gotten a text message from him that he is fine but as you can imagine very busy right now. We are grateful beyond words that he was not harmed. But our hearts are heavy with sadness for the dead, the wounded, and their families. When your child becomes a soldier the Army becomes part of your extended family. I am in a deep state of shock and almost unbearable grief with this tragedy that touches our family so closely.

  3. I am glad to hear that your son is OK. I went to school in Georgetown, which isn't that far from Ft Hood (a lot of my friends would go dancing with guys from Ft Hood)...It's such a big important part of north central Texas...I can't believe it happened, either.

  18. I had not heard about the shooting, maybe because I am in Canada or maybe because I don't watch much TV, but I sure am glad your son is ok. My first husband was in the military and so I understand. I almost lost my mind with worry when he went away and eventually I just could not take it any more. I went into such a deep depression that I had to leave or I would have died. To this day I always have him in my thoughts whenever I look at the paper and see a fallen soldier.
I pray your son will remain safe and come home to you.
    Hugs
    Marie

My heart goes out to you LeAnn. I will be praying for your son and all those in the military that they may stay safe and out of harms way, no matter where they are stationed. I hope that your son will come home to you soon.

    Much love to you.

  22. LeAnne I am so sorry for what you and your family must be going through right now. I thought about those poor soldiers and families all day, and it made me so mad that the place they felt the most safe was violated. I hope they know how much I respect the sacrifices they make for us all.

  23. When our sons and daughters join the military to fight for our cause and freedoms it's unimaginable that they would be killed by "friendly" fire in the U.S.! I am so glad that your son escaped physical harm, even though I know he has not escaped the psychological harm of losing those around him.

  29. Dearest Kindred Sister,

Please forgive my tardiness in sending you my thoughts, love and a huge Bloglandian Sister hug!! We just returned from out trip to the States. We spend most of the time without internet so I have been so behind on keeping up with everyone's lives.

My heart goes out to you dearest sister. Although I can't walk in your shoes I do understand the pain and shock that you are feeling!! Try to take just one day at a time and please be ever so patient with yourself and the many feelings of grief, relief, and pain you are feeling!! Everyone heals in their own way and in their own time, but I promise you will heal.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help dear sister. I will keep both you and your family (especially your son) in my thoughts.

    Pattie ;)
