Bob can no longer get up the stairs on his own.
So each night Peter carries him up to our room.
And each night I love Peter even more for his gentle compassion.

ReplyDeleteThat's love. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteOh this is beautiful. This is what we did when our Cleo was at the end. Her legs just could not do the stairs anymore. I miss her - everyday. Hug Bob for as long as you can.
ReplyDeleteThat is just such a wonderful photo and so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous and compassionate picture.
ReplyDeleteNow, that really makes me feel the love, and makes me just a bit teary eyed too. But that's a good thing.

Such a touching and compassionate thing to do for your beautiful dog. There is no place he wants to be than right by your side day and night.
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture and story about your guy and his devotion to Bob. May the three of you have many happy days together!

ReplyDeleteLucky Bob.
ReplyDeleteSuch a touching photo and so bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful photo and story, poor Bob, but look how much love he has from you both.
ReplyDeletethis brought tears to my eyes...my hubby is a tender hearted guy too, and this brought back memories of my very well loved cat Mokie, when he sas sick my hubby would give him his medicine and baby talk to him and would have tears in his eyes because he knew how bad Mokie hated having him do this...
ReplyDeleteOh my, that made me cry!
ReplyDeleteOh. He is a great man... And what a wonderful life Bob has had with you and your family for all these years. {{{Hugs to you guys}}}
ReplyDeleteLeAnn -What a poignant photo -- so truly compassionate. We have all been there with our beloved pets -- you are truly blessed to have a husband who is so gentle and caring. This is a lovely post--
ReplyDeleteSending you hugs-
Vicki
Such a loving thing to do each night, for your unconditionally loving member of the family!
ReplyDeleteTears in my eyes... such a beautiful loving man. It reminds me of my husband carrying our Sam up and down stairs the last year of his life. They are so loyal to us that we have to be back.
ReplyDeleteThis is love in its purest form!
ReplyDeleteLeAnn, your post goes straight to my heart! We are almost at that point with Max, our 13yr old lab. He still tries to make it up the steps on his own, he's stubborn and if we try to pick him up he dead weights himself so we slowly walk behind him just in case he slips.
ReplyDeleteYou are all so beautiful, and Bob has always given his love unconditionally. Sending prayers of strength for everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis just slays me...beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh .. man .. I have tears in my eyes. What a wonderful photo.
ReplyDeleteIt is really beautiful that your husband carries Bob up the stairs. Demonstrates trust and love in both of them. I understand, there isn't anything we wouldn't do for our dog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful picture, and what is even more wonderful is the story behind it. I'm almost to tears.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, thank you for sharing with us! Lots of love there!
ReplyDeleteOh I know that feeling! My husband did the same with our first dog. Tearing up - hugs to you all.

ReplyDeleteThat is beyond sweet. It makes me a little weepy even.
ReplyDeleteOne of the sweetest things and true expressions of love yet. Love this.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow...none better! I'll stop sniffling soon, I'm sure..
ReplyDeleteLove this sweet extension of ourselves to our beloved pets.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! And I understand completely. We've made a number of adjustments for our 19 year old cat. He can still climb stairs, but he can't jump, so we've created stair steps for him to all his favorite places, including our bed.
ReplyDeleteThey give such love!
That is so touching - just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, your husband is full of compassion and what a beautiful picture to share with us....conveys so much in a single photo. We do anything for our sweet pets...in the last year, I had to carry my Hodgie outside every single time he needed to go to the bathroom. My youngest son loved having him in the back of the stroller with him to go on walks. I miss those walks. Your post brings back many memories.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet & compassionate for your hubby to carry Bob so lovingly up the stairs.....xox
