I thought I'd lure you in with a photo of the trumpet vine. The cardinals and humming birds love this plant. Me? Not so much. It has taken over. It has to go. But it was a welcome bright spot and break from what I was doing today.
You see, I have this room which is called the study, the spare room, the alternative studio. Spare rooms are bad. Especially when it is so easy to close the door on them. The fairies, elves, brownies, have yet to arrive to help me in my desparate plight to transform this space into livable quarters for some of the many family that are coming in July...all at one time.
This is what the space transformation looks like at the end of the day. It is dangerous in there. There are things everywhere. The dogs will not go in there. But I have a plan.
Inspired by an account by Crafty Chica in the recent "studios" magazine, I am moving everything out. I am cleaning thouroughly. We are talking clean, Mr Clean, sparkling clean. Then nothing is going back in that does not have a specific home. I will be ruthless.
And then, my spare room, office, alternative studio will look like the cover of the magazine. Dream big, right?
But it is Friday. And in our house that means pizza. Home made pizza. OK, home assembled. And possibly a margarita. It is after all 100 F here today.
Have a great weekend!

I know the feeling LeAnn, I have a small guest room and it is just awful. It's gets the cleaning hookup maybe 3x a year! No fairies here in Denver either, they are probably on some distant island having fun!
Do you feel better knowing you aren't alone? I too have a room like that. It's so bad sometimes that the bug guy won't even enter it..lol! But its pretty much under control (good thing there is a space in the garage for my stuff. Mostly things get shuffled from one area to the other. Its the nature of the beast. I don't have faeries or elves either.
Tammy & Rosanne, I actually do feel much better feeling I'm not alone. I'll keep you posted though. This is gonna be spectacular. OK, it's gonna be clean.
How about this - YOU HAVE EXTRA ROOM!!!! You are lucky! Wallow in it!
Be sure to show us the 'after' pic. Maybe you'll be in a future studio magazine. :)
100 degrees = margaritas or gin and tonics. Alcohol sales should be doing well in TX this year.
this is hysterical - because i can completely relate... kudos to you for taking it on! definitely want to see the outcome...
You definitely aren't alone! Luckily, when we bought this house, we had plans for all of the rooms, so we don't have a spare room...Funny how they turn into room-sized versions of the proverbial junk drawer...
Enjoy the margaritas! I was supposed to go hang out with my hubby at a scuba thing this weekend, but it's TOO hot - it got up to 104 where he is today...
As Sue says, lucky you have an extra room, as I do not!! Also means one less room to clean and I kind of like it that way! Really trying to dispose , declutter, and keep it small as the years go by!
Wow, I am in awe of your heroic undertaking!!! I bow low before you to honor your will power and determination!!! BTW, you can come over anytime if you are looking for a "big" project.... LOL I am sure your room will have all the magazines lined up for pictures. But we want to see it first.
Did I miss you! Have a margarita for me too.
Well, it seems I am in fine company spare room wise ;-) Stay tuned for the magical transformation!
Ooh! I am so with you! I just finished clearing out my studio, which had totally become our junk room. You will feel so good when you have it done!
Trumpet Vine! 100 degrees F! You're making me homesick! I'm glad I'm driving south soon. What am I saying, it's 100 degrees here in Saint Louis today. But it's not a TEXAN 100 degrees, that's different, RIGHT?
Darn tootin, Lynn! A TEXAN 100 degrees is like no where else!
