The Gates of ....

Well I'm inclined to believe it might be the gates of that less desirable place. The kiln is loaded, it is firing, it is hot as h-e-double hockey sticks. I could have gotten more in this kiln but my brain melted about 5 pm and my will power was in seriously diminshed supply about 4 pm. It's mid 90F here which means out in the studio it is about 1058 degrees. No AC. Yuk. Tomorrow we're gonna break 100F. So I'm off to do a bit more work tonight while it is still 'cool.'
But stay tuned for the big reveal. There is all sorts of new things in there. New textures, new glazes, including a what was I thinking glaze.
Hope you all stay cool!

Goodie! I can't wait to see! And I am intrigued by the "what was I thinking" glaze. I'm sure it all will be awesome.

You must live in TX. Good luck with your pieces. I was wondering what type of wire do you have running through your pieces in the kiln? My art students are sometimes looking for ways to glaze small pieces, thanks.

Hi Katie! The what was I thinking glaze will be a surprise. I'll let y'all see it even if it is ugly as sin.

Nena, I use mandrels that I get from Arrow Springs. I cut them into 3" or so pieces and that seems to work pretty well at cone 6. Email me if you want more details. And yep, it's TX and it's hot!

You poor soul, the heat can be so miserable especially when you really want to get your work done!
Looking forward to the surprise glaze:)

I usually love heat, and I know that sounds sick, but I have that thing with the fingers and the toes being like ice even when its hot....and I'm cold a lot. But sorry you don't like it!It must be miserable to "bake " in the heat!
I can not wait to see the new things!!!

Can't wait for the big reveal!!! Especially the what were you thinking glaze!!
Although I generally prefer too warm to too cold - over a 100°F is not something we experience in our moderate area. I would probably wilt. Now we are barely reaching 70°F at the moment - why don't you send your excess degrees over here?

I would melt, I have too much Nordic blood coursing through my vein. We have had a very cool summer here in upstate NY I have not seen 80 in weeks, it has been very comfortable in front of the torch.
