Or so it would appear. I don't normally make too many things in heart shapes. But I've really enjoyed shaping these free form without molds or cutters. This ones a little larger version and a little flatter. If I made it into a plump one like the little ones, it would be a bit like hanging a bolder around your neck. That might look good for the Flinstones but I don't think it's very practical, really.
Here's the little fat ones. (oops, plump sound so much better). I love the feel of these and actually hate to part with them. They feel very nice in your hand and I can imagine that if I were wearing one of these I would spend a great deal of time just touching it. That could either be very distracting or come in really handy if you were, for example, in a very boring meeting.
These are my favourite. While I like the saturated colours of the glazed pieces, there is something irresistable about naked porcelain. I fired these to maturity so they are almost like glass. Then I tumbled them for a long time. They really do feel a lot like river stones. I think I'll make some of these without holes for a couple of special people I know, so they can carry them in their pockets.
Hope you've all had a great start to the week. Cheers!

These are lovely, Leann! The glazed ones are gorgeous but I really like the natural porcelain ones. They remind me of those magical heart-shaped rock or stones you can sometimes find on a nature walk if you're lucky enough. They are like finding a four leaf clover! Special little talismans!
Erin, I know just what you mean about those magical nature finds. I am so pleased that you see that in the unglazed pieces. Thank you.
I love the organic look to these hearts and the glaze colors are just perfect!
These are just lovely! I love the unglazed hearts - I am a rock hound and they look as smooth as the little pebbles that wash up on the lake shore!
you know, i am always on the lookout for naturally shaped heart stones... they move me - it's like the earth is sending you a sign... i love how you describe you plump little hearts that are naked... i would love to commission one without a hole - what a treasure it would be! just like something else i gaze upon each day that brings me ever so much peace... :0)
Ohhhhhhhh gads LeAnn,
The glazed ones are so beautiful in such quiet simplistic way. Like the old Shaker furniture and furnishings. But oh my gosh your little naked beauties are about as sensual as anything could possibaly be!!! It's a good thing you made them puffy cuz all the rubbing they are bound to get would have them rubbed flat in no time!! :)
Pattie ;)
Mazatlan Mx.
These are just so gorgeous, the naked ones are divine...like prayer beads, only prayer hearts to rub...ohhh I like that!
Judy, organic may just be the word I was looking for. I am happy you like the colours.
Pearl, I spent much of my younger years with my dad hunting rocks. He made all of his own lapidary equipment and we spent hours and hours together going over our little finds and finishing them up. But my fav are always the natural ones.
MJ, I like the idea of naked hearts. In so many ways that is just a pleasing metaphor. I emailed you!
Sharon, prayer beads are one of the things I really love. Those little things that help us to direct our meditations. Thank you so much.
Oh Pattie, I missed your comment. You make me giggle. Sensuous at my age is such a double edged sword ;-)
Your naked hearts remind me of Valentine sugar cookies. They are adorable!
I {heart} hearts! Your hearts look so yummy...I must say I agree with Leslie's analogy! And I love your idea of leaving some without a hole to give to those you love.
Cindy
They are all lovely, but the little plump ones speak to me louder. I think both the naked and the "dressed" ones must be wonderful to hold. The naked ones do look like beach pebbles and you know I love those...
LOVE the tumbled, naked hearts! I bet they feel absolutely wonderful in the hand!!
Your hearts have stolen my heart. I especially like the porcelain ones. Best wishes for 2010 Leann.
Love the little hearts!! They are so sweet! Have a great week!
Marie
They are so charming! I didn't know you could tumble - never heard of such a thing. I have a tumbler and I have clay. Now I am so excited to make some things to put in there. Maybe you can elaborate on tumbling in the future. Thanks for the crazy-great inspiration!
