Bun Bun

Bun Bun is what my daughter called rabbits when she was just a little tiny girl. This morning I woke up with this image of bunnies in my head. I had heaps of other things to do, but you know, sometimes you just have to go with what's there. These are little prototype bunny beads. They are in the bisque kiln right now. There's only a hand full so I can see what they glaze up like.

I love baby bunnies. They are one of my earliest happy memories. Seeing them hop through the grass at dusk was such an exciting thing. You had to be really quiet so that you wouldn't scare them off. That is not something so easy to do as a four year old. I loved those little grey furry plump bunnies. My mother was less than thrilled with them. The object of those little bunnies affection was my mothers garden. New pea sprouts, lettuce, spinach, not a the asparagus, but almost anything newly sprouting, was what they were after. Me, I think I'd like to plant a garden just to feed those little babies.

OK, now that I've lured you in here, hop on over to the Beads of Clay Blog. Joan Tucker of Off Center Productions is writing a monthly spot light feature of BOC members. This month it is me!!!! She's even made me sound somewhat interesting. Yippeeee.

Thanks, Joan!

Ah bunnies brings back memories of when our two 'male' rabbits provided 6 babies, and although we seperated them as soon as we'd realised another 5 appeared, but they were all so adorable and good homes were found for all apart from the ones we kept back for the children!

When my son was about 3 and misbehaving (just a tad) before Easter we saw a bunny hopping around outside our back door, looking like he was spying on us. I said "There's the Bunny Scout! He is watching you and will report back to the EB!" (Easter Bunny) It worked. To this day when we see them we think of Bunny Scouts. Because the EB can't be everywhere (P.S. Works the same with all the Santas you see around Christmas...they are Santa Scouts!)
Enjoy the day!

Somehow, I think my bird beads are gonna need a bun bun buddy ;-)

One of my cousins had a rabbit when we were little and the rabbit's actual name was "Bun Bun."

Wasn't 'Bun Bun' the name of the rabbit puppet on Captain Kangaroo?

In any case, these are too cute - can't wait to snag one in your etsy shop.

I want to pet him and hug him and squeeze him and love him and feed him and call him George.

(If you didn't watch Bugs Bunny when you were a kid, that went STRAIGHT over your head and you just think I'm weirder than normal.)

I love bunnies so much!! We resued a baby bunny and kept it for about a week, then let it go in a golf course. We named him Pete!!

Oh my - the bunnies are so very sweet!
My bunny memories are problematic - the summer hay harvest would flush the baby bunnies which meant sport for our critters ... not a happy sound. We've long since moved and the critters have passed so I can once again enjoy the little darlings.
Can't wait to see them glazed.

LeAnn...guess what, we had a gray bunny named "BunBuns"!! She lived to be about 10 years old. Her buddy, named Babycakes lived to be about 14 years old and we lost him about 2 years ago now. I have a fondness for bunnies for sure. Your new beads are adorable!!
