The crazies

We are having a little of the crazies here trying to get this wedding organized. The date has been moved up to September 18th and hopefully the groom (my son) will actually get on that earlier flight from Afghanistan. But happy progress has been made  Yesterday, I lucked out and was able to rent the cottage at Botanica in Wichita. It's a small reception room set in beautiful botanical gardens, complete with water features and outdoor space for the wedding ceremony. Best of all, Botanica is where my son proposed to Tammy!

I'm driving up to Wichita on Friday and we're having a mad weekend of wedding planning and dress shopping. Oh and my soon to be son-in-law is celebrating his 30th.

Here's the crazy part of the crazies. I have a bead show in 13 days. It is a little hard to concentrate on beads right now. Oh did I mention that the elements in the kiln I use most just went out? I'll have to get out Big Bertha to finish everything in time.

But life has a way of going on despite the fact that you aren't ready for it. In fact I couldn't be happier getting ready for this wedding!

How exciting LeAnn. I enjoyed the wedding preparations when my daughter married. She got married in February and our son got married in the October - both in the same year. Our son's wedding was intimate in that only immediate family attended. He and our daughter-in-law didn't want a reception and they organised themselves.
Wishing you fun as you make the arrangements.

Doesn't everything always happen at once? Enjoy it - it's life - and you are all going to be together and your son will be safe!!!!

It does sound pretty crazy - but it sounds like you are loving it, despite bead shows and kiln crazies. Glad that you are so happy at this moment!

I so get the excitement, overwhelming, but getting through it and loving it, and going with the flow and making things work no matter what feelings you seem to be having about it all… Good luck getting beads in there. You may have to say "I have what I have" at some point. Water off a duck's back right? Enjoy every moment (and thanks for the lovely picture!)...

When it rains it pours they say! :-) LeAnn, I know you are going through a lot right now and it sounds a bit stressful...but the good kind! So many exciting things happening in your life right now. Wishing you the best getting ready for your bead show. I'm happy you were able to secure such a beautiful space for the ceremony and reception!

Wonderful! Happy wedding planning! And yes, I can see how it might be hard to focus on bead-making! Good Luck with everything!

That is so nice that you're involved in the wedding plans. Kilns can be finicky creatures ... they seem to know when you need them most!
