Tuesday Tangle

This weeks zen tangle over at I am the diva was to start with circles. I like circles. My circles came out all sort of lumpy. But I'm OK with that. I don't think the point of this is to have preconceived notions of how things will come out. I did notice that I seem to have an aversion to white space when I do one of these. Which is strange given that I actually like lots of white space and simple paired down things. But not with a zen tangle, no siree Bob, I am going to keep adding until the whole thing is chockers with patterns.

I did notice that I seemed to have needed to add a lot of black lines and boundaries around things in this one. I'm OK with that too. Because when I look at this I think that maybe I am trying to tell myself something. I've been having one of those weeks where there are so many ideas going around in my head that I am having a hard time settling into doing anything at all. Maybe my little tangle exercise is telling me to corral some of those things and put them into some organized compartments. Who knows?

But then maybe this means nothing at all. Doesn't really matter as I quite enjoy the mental break of just sitting down with a nice black marker and drawing without any purpose at all.

I have actually gotten a few things done and promise I will show you some studio things soon. I've got a new tool. It's exciting. It's still in the box. I'm getting it out now. This is building suspense, isn't it.

A cool way to relax, I think that would be a nice etch too.
I am not good at buying tools, there are so many choices and I always seem to make do. What did you get, I'm intrigued.

I like it - the thicker darker lines really set off the patterns - nice

I really like the zentangle...even better anybody can do it...even me 'cause I can't draw. My daughter brought home a picture that she did in art the is zentangle-ish. Can't wait to hear about the new tool.

I love how these exercises really allow you to think a lot. Even if it is just to feed into that obsessiveness of filling in all the spaces! The more angular lines within your orbs remind me of plants. Maybe a bit of bromeliads in a way - under a microscope of weird perception (I adore weird perception - especially in dreams!). You know after doing this week's tangle challenge I decided that I was going to actually use the small 3.5" squares from here on out. Get back that small exercise technique… Can't wait to see what new tool you have!

I tried my hand at a tangle tonight. I think they could be a lot of fun. I don't have the right sort of pen, but I can get one! I actually thought that I overworked mine and it started to get all sloppy. I will revisit this soon!
Enjoy the day!

This looks relaxing and fun. I've always been a doodler, but never tried this approach before. I need to be able to sit still long enough to get started....although this looks like something you can stop and start again later. :-)

I like the variation of the thicker lines defining your areas...I find this process to be very much about putting things in order in your brain...it's a higher-thinking sudoku puzzle!

Love your zentangle and how it has you thinking...

My power tool (similar to a Dremel) died last night and took out the fuse to boot :(

I like the thick lines, they make a lovely design. When I began to tangle people told me I would see into my soul through drawing. I am not so sure one tangle can say all that; I think we would need to look at a number of our tangles over time, but I do believe our tangles show us a lot about what is going on in our minds just as our dreams sometimes do.
