That photo up there is of the monthly Downtown Art Market last Saturday, where despite the 100 degree weather, lots of people came down to look around, shop, and just have a good time. The first Art Market was in May and we started with 18 vendors and 200 visitors. Just 3 months later we are 36 vendors with a crowd of 600. I am just tickled pink, not just for myself, but for our community. Like so many places, the downtown area is a dead zone, with much of the shopping moved out to strip malls. This market in its own small way is contributing to that sense of community that once made downtowns every where so alive. Larry, Jennifer, and Tony you all have done a fabulous job of making this happen. Thank you!!!!

Thank you so much sweet LeAnn for your touching comment and for spreading the word! You have been such a supportive friend!
I reeeeaaaaly wish we had an art market like this, it's so nice to do personal business and really know the person , talent commitment and integrity that goes into making and selling their product, I'm glad for your community that it has become such a success. I know you have made it a better place! This is what this world needs more of.....caring!
Sharon, I've done very little to get this market going. It really is the vision of a handful of people who have a wonderful little gallery in the middle of a 'revitalisation' area. I think all communities should think about doing something like this. And yes, caring, really is what this world needs more of!!!
Sounds like a great market!
LeAnn, the Downtown Art Market sounds great. I wish we were closer, I would love it.
LeAnn, glad to hear your market is thriving, especially when the weather is so hot! When does it finally cool down to normal in TX?
Debbie, I wish you were closer too!
Renate, we are having an unusual string of hot weather here. But it won't cool down until September. But our autumn and winter weather is great.
Oh gosh, I would love to be there during one of these! We have Craftstravaganza twice a year here in Athens and it is slowly but surely growing. Next year, I hope to be "accepted" as a vendor.
Love love love your work as always and thanks for your visit to my little blog, too.
Hello to Bob and Alice!
Take care!
Candace in Athens.
That's just great, LeAnn! I wish we had that here! Good for you!
