My Wintery White World

I woke up this morning at 2 am to thunder, lightning, wind and torrential rain. One dog whimpering, the other really needing to be in bed with us, all 60 pounds of her. I went to an early morning appointment on flooded streets and came home to this. It was snowing so hard that when got back in the car, after smashing the windscreen wipers free of ice, and I looked in the mirror, I had a pile of snow on my head. Not pretty. Heck, it is supposed to be fairly nice here in winter. I don't even own a parka. I have no idea where my gloves are.

This is one of my favourite corners of my back garden. Not so good for sitting right now but the snow frosting on everything is sort of pretty.

It's kind of pretty until you start to notice how low all of the branches are. Then you look up and realize how much ice and wet snow is on everything.

That's my neighbors car up there being kept from being swept away in our little storm by the branch of an ancient cedar. There are huge limbs down every where. One end of my street has half a tree over the road. This is really not nice snow. I like a bit of fluffy beautiful snow now and again. Especially the kind that goes away in a couple of days. And it is still snowing.
Yes, I know. Just 6 days ago I told you all about our dust storm. Our potential for explosive fire. The potential for raining mud. The 72F weather. I'm really just sitting here asking myself, what's next? Locusts?

Yikes! I don't own a parka or boots any longer...I left them behind when we moved to Tenn. We are suppose to get 2-5 inches of snow...but I will believe it when I see it.
Stay bundled up inside with those pups of yours!

DON'T EVER TEMPT THE UNIVERSE!!! you do not want to know what's next, don't ask... because it will show you... someone may have asked that question during the dust storm...
it is pretty... but when it is heavy and there is a lot of ice, it can be very destructive... and i always hate to see tree damage... losing power is a bummer too, naturally! hope you find yourself some gloves and something warm to wear...

That looks so very beautiful and cold. I hope you get some nice peaceful sunny weather soon.

Oh LeAnn. I am not going to tell you it looks beautiful. Because it doesn't. It looks like a lot of destruction. Hope it calms down soon. Maybe light a candle for Mother Nature - just in case she heard that about the locusts...
Stay safe and warm.

Goodness!
That is what it is supposed to look like up here in WI. I have a parka. And warm mittens. And I know how to use them. But you? That is epic this weather you have having.
Stay safe and warm, dear!
Enjoy the day!

P.S. as much of a pain in the behind as it is, it really is beautiful. Makes you appreciate that 72 degrees even more, doesn't it?

Freaky weather! I drove through a major snow storm on the 10 in west TX (must have been Christmas '82 eeek). I thought it always did this there but I found out later it was rare.

It snows maybe 1 day a year in Portland, or so they say, snowed 3 out of 3 winters since we moved here. We had 6 weeks of it last year, snowed in for 2. Oh, and that thing about the mail coming in sleet or snow is NOT TRUE. They quit coming.

It sure is pretty and really makes spring more special. 72 degrees? That is the high here in the summer. The cotton socks I brought up from CA are useless. lol

Your pix are gorgeous, love the bench area!

wow - what crazy weather our world is seeing. Lovely photos, but having lived in Canada for a couple of years I know what you mean - might look pretty but the conditions are dangerous. Take care, stay safe and warm.
PS - I received the crimson heart this week - I had to make into a necklace for me as soon as I saw it! I haven't stopped wearing it. So beautiful. Vicki

OYE LeAnn!!!

You go from raining mud one week to snow the next this has a bit of a biblical ring to it. Maybe it's not such a bad idea to pick up a firesuit at the A&N supply store you never know think fire/hail and locus storms... I'm just sayin! :)

Thanks everyone for stopping by. This winter storm has been pretty devastating. I went out today and there are so many trees down and that is so sad. There is a fair bit of property damage. And it is cold!!!!! But our home, thankfully, has been spared so far from trees toppling onto the roof.

I have been watching this on the news, it sure is a weird winter for ya'll. We get that in Denver quite a bit throughout the cold months, and it never gets easier seeing all those trees and lines down. People go without heat/elec for days at a time. So I am glad your home has been spared and you are safe. Sending sunshine your way!!

Wow! It's too bad we don't get ANY snow down here. At least it looks beautiful! I'd be staying inside with a mug of hot chocolate!!!

I'll stop complaining that our 50-60 degree weather is too cold! Still, I did brave Saskatchewan winters for 22 years so I figure I deserve to live the "soft" Southern CA life now :) My recommendation? Become friends with cashmere :)

We had the same thing minus the lightning. I opened the blinds on the back doors and turned on the light as I worked at night so I could see the snow pelting down!

Gorgeous pictures, LeAnn! What was it they were saying about global warming. Of course, now the politically correct term is "climate change!" Change to what ... the Ice Age!
