Procrastination Queen

The artist, formerly known as LeAnn, would hence forth prefer to be called the Procrastination Queen. I have art market on Saturday and set up for a 3 day show on Wednesday. That would be the Wednesday that is 7 days away. But look at that large pile of stuff up there, you say. Well that large pile of stuff up there is from yesterday. It is still not finished. It should have been twice that size today. It says so on my list that I made to keep myself on task and not away with the fairies.

What did the Procrastination Queen do today? Well I started out the day looking at the sky with a cup of coffee in my hand. Then I went to coffee with friends. Then as long as I was out, I thought I might go to Hobby Lobby. There might be something there that I couldn't live with out. And as long as I was there I might as well cross the road and go to Michaels. I was sure they had something that I absolutely, positively needed. And so progressed the morning and early afternoon.

But the real culprit was an idea. I woke up with an idea. That idea needed to be followed. It might just evaporate into thin air. It is not an idea that needs to be done now, not even 6 months from now. That idea is still being worked on. (What, now you think I might be the Enigma Queen?) The idea is curing so I think I might just head off to finish that pile of pendants. Maybe a cup of coffee? It could be a long evening after all.

Can I join you in the land of No More Time? We could stare at that pile of luscious beady goodness with coffee mugs in hand remarking how lovely the day is and plotting those shopping trips for 'necessities' or maybe just call it 'research' and then we could tackle it late into the evening. Like every single night. Until it is done or the deadline passes, whichever comes first. I can pencil you in...next Thursday!

Enjoy the day Queen LeAnn!

I like to think of procrastination as "incubation time." I'm letting my subconscious work out the best way of doing something. By playing Scrabble on Facebook or painting my toenails or reading People magazine instead of making jewelry, I am getting my conscious mind out of the way so my subconscious can come up with something brilliant. And when that brilliant idea finally trickles up from my subconscious into my conscious mind (which coincidentally is usually right around the very last minute--"CRAP!!! I gotta make that stuff!!!") I am finally ready to make it happen.

With the power vested in me by the Almighty Head Procratinator, I crown you "the Procrastinator Queen" With this title come all the rank and privileges of being the head Idea Thinker. Now to my way of thinking this is a very important responsibility!! With out the Idea Thinker we would still be trying to figure out how to keep the fig leaf undies from crumbling to dust or how to get that lump of clay to hold our morning cup of coffee!!!

I see a big pot of coffee and midnight oil in your future :)

best luck getting everything ready... inside you know what you are capable of getting done - doing it at the last possible minute is just our way of challenging ourselves (torturing ourselves?)... the days are flying - back to work... that was directed at me, you can crack your own whip!!

Ah, you all are too funny! Maire, I'm cracking my whip but not too hard. Life's too danged short, I've decided, to get my knickers in a knot. A first for me!

Aw LeAnn, what you describe happens about 3 times a week to me. We are all in the same boat my friend!

To the artist, formerly known as LeAnn: what could be a better way to start the day, than looking at the sky with a cup of (insert preferred liquid here) in hand? Well, possibly - looking at the sky and listening to the birdies at the same time.
Procrastination - I think that is my middle name. Or, at the least, my birthright.
But what I really want to know - what idea????

Lovin' your post!

And here all this time I called that lull between inspiration and completion...artistic "freedom"!

I humbly bow to you your majesty!

Your work is gorgeous! So if it takes more sky gazing, more coffee breaks, more visits with friends, more HL and M visits...so be it...I declare as your humble fan!

Ooops, here's my disclaimer...." Deadlines are out of my area of control?"

Sorry but you are so worth the wait.

I think you are channeling my life! Especially the "well, I'm here anyway so I might as well go to X store to see what they have that I might need." Never mind that I was just in there a week ago and they NEVER re-stock that quickly LOL!

I just had this discussion today with my husband...that I had a procrastination condition. I didn't realize that I too should be called a Procrastination QUEEN! Good luck with the preparations!

I'm pretty sure I need to be the Procrastination Princess then! I have a 20 page paper due on monday and I'm only on my first draft. Good thing I can double space! :)
