I am listening now

Why is it that I have a hard time listening to my body? On Wednesday I started aching in my neck. Just thought it was from sitting in one position too long pressing out clay pendants. So I move on to something else. And keep working. Then my body starts aching all over. And I move onto another thing despite the fact that I am now tired as well as aching. Then I wake up with the snuffles and chills and I try to push through to meet a self imposed deadline. It is too early for the cold and flu season. Hermits aren't exposed to enough germs to get a cold anyway. But by late morning, I started listening and went to bed. Sleep felt good. Reading a book and dozing felt good. It was a rainy day and what could be better than dozing with book snuggled up in the comfort of my bed?

I feel a bit better today. But I wonder if I am in the only person that just ignores the signals our bodies give us. I suspect not. When I get sick my mind seems to travel on all sorts of philosophical journeys. I wonder about things like what it really means to forgive someone. Do I truly know the definition of compassion? And I wonder why everything I make reminds me of those lovely Dutch windmill ginger cookies. Is my body telling me something again?

Have a lovely weekend all. Don't think too much, listen to your body, and go get some cookies.

Meanwhile listen to this. Did Nirvana ever sound this good? See? Weighty philosophical meanderings. I love these guys.

I've been the worst about listening to my body and shamefully have been so for a couple of years now. I think once too many issues start plaguing my physical well-being I just give up. So I appreciate your post. It might be best to start listening again... Turn inward for a while and see what's happening. Thank you for the reminder.

I ignore my body's messages all the time and regret it every time. Love the 2cellos video!
Glad you are feeling better!

Due to recent struggles with illness, I have finally started to listen to my body this past year, and it truly feels better to do so. Work can wait, there is always enough, and life will go on.
Hopew you are feling better...the aches I the worst I think.
Beautiful photos of your pieces!

I hope you feel better right quick! I am horrible about listening to my own body, but that is something I try to instill in my kids. Thanks for the reminder that there is no shame in shutting down for awhile. You will come back refreshed from this hiatus for sure.
Enjoy the day!

Too true that we take care of everyone else better than we take care of ourselves.
Thanks for the reminder to listen to my body when it starts whispering, rather than waiting for it to shout at me!
Enjoy a respite!

Glad you're already on the upswing! Gorgeous design, and it reminds me of those awesome cookies too...even though not in the least windmill inspired!

Ahh, LeAnn, we all do this when we are pushing on, but sometimes our bodies say "enough!!" and you have to listen. Hope the weekend has you feeling better. Love the new design :)

Hey LeAnn, I've become much better at paying attention to my body, it has very insightful things to tell you if you listen. I am familar with that ache in my neck or lower in the shoulder and know now that it means a cold coming on, not that I've sat here at the computer too long.

You sure did the right thing by crawling in bed with a good book.
Hope you're feeling better.

Have I told you lately how in love and in awe I am of your work?

Glad you are feeling better. I wonder why it is that we are so determined not to notice the signals our bodies send...

Of course i ignore it! Who has time to get sick? We all push ourselves muh harder than we reasonably should I think. I hope you are feeling better and maybe next time I will try to take your advice and just give in to it.

Okay... I first started thinking this was going to be deep... but when we ended with those philosophical windmill cookies (which, by the way I wish you never mentioned because now I wish I had some) I was laughing..... I am very philosophical... so much so, I don't even know what the heck I'm talking about half of the time.... And listen to my body??? Well, right now my body is saying, "You wouldn't have heart burn if you chose not to have stuffed shells for breakfast!"

I can't remember the last time I did not push through my body's demands to finish what needed to be done! Complicated times right now, I can't wait to m=be able to listen to it again and stop when I want or need to <3

You TOTALLY must listen to your body. I'm not listening to MINE right now, but I am forcing you (points finger) to take care of yours!
